Chaucer School, Parson Cross, Sheffield
October 2012
A project undertaken on behalf of Sheffield City Council’s Lifelong Learning and Skills department and Tapton School Academy Trust. An old area housing office was refurbished for use as a youth club and school work space.
Computer suite:
The existing strong room had the teller positions removed and a section of wall opened up. The remaining walls were then lined and computer benching , comparmentised dado trunking and extra socket outlets and data cable outlets were fitted. Decoration to the walls and new carpet floor covering completed the new computer suite.
Main Hall:
The existing waiting room and interview rooms had several partition walls removed to open the space into one large room. Several radiators were removed and piping rerouted into channels cut into the concrete floor. The suspended ceiling was extended and made good and new lighting fitted. Full carpeting and decoration and the addition of a full disabled toilet suite in an old store room completed the new work space.
Kitchen Area:
The existing kitchen units and worktops were removed and several redundant sockets and data points were safely eliminated. New units and worktops were fitted and extended to create a new L-shaped kitchen with a breakfast bar. Again decoration to the walls and woodwork completed the new kitchen area.
