Electrical Testing
An Electrical Installation Condition Report (EICR) previously known as a Periodic Inspection Report of Fixed Installation Test, involves testing the permanent electrical circuits , controls and accessories of the building be it a commercial, residential or industrial building.
Generally if your building is open to the public, houses employees or is a rented property then an EICR is required at regular intervals dependant on its use. Recommended maximum periods stipulated by the Institute of Engineering and Technology (IET) are listed below:
- Commercial installations: 5 years
- Industrial installations: 3 years
- Buildings open to the public: 1 year
- External installations: 3 years
- Caravan parks: 1 year
- Short term and site installations: 3 months
